Second Edition of ELSA Webinars Academy Malta on Maritime Law.

ELSA Malta is proud to present the second edition of ELSA Webinars Academy Malta on Maritime law.

The event will take place between the 26th and 30th of July 2021. During this 5-day-programme, participants will have full access to 15-hour schedule or Maritime Law lectures presented by professionals and academics in the field. These lectures will tackle a variety of topics within the Industry, in line with both local and international regulations. The lectures shall explore the significance of the Maltese flagship and the basic aspects of shipping such as registration and financing. They shall also delve deeper into treaties and conventions regulating the industry as well as the limitation of liability amongst others. Furthermore, participants will also be given the opportunity to participate in an engaging social programme in order to get to know the other participants.

All webinars are to be held in English to accommodate international participants and local participants alike.

The fee is priced at 25 euros for all ELSA members and 30 euros for non-ELSA members. Apart from the Live Webinars, participants will also be provided with a recorded version of these lectures together with the materials used by the speakers throughout the academy programme. Applicants will be sent an invoice upon applying for the event.

The ELSA Webinars Academy Maritime Law includes 15 hours of intensive lectures including:

  • The Malta Flag - Fundamental Aspects of Ship Registration by Ms Rowena Grima from Fenech and Fenech Advocates
  • International Maritime Conventions by Dr Matthew Attard from Ganado Advocates
  • Ship Recycling by Dr Saman Bugeja from Ganado Advocates
  • Salvage, Pilotage and collisions by Dr Ann Fenech from Fenech and Fenech Advocates
  • Taxation of maritime activities under a double taxation treaty by Timothy Borg Olivier from Deloitte
  • The judicial sale of vessels by Jan Rossi from Ganado Advocates
  • Irregular Migration by Sea and Impacts on International Shipping by Felicity Attard from the University of Malta
  • An overview of the law affecting Yachting in Malta by Dr Alison Vassallo from Fenech and Fenech Advocates
  • Limitation of Liability in International Maritime Conventions by Dr Norman Martinez form the International Maritime Law Institute
  • Ship Finance by Dr Caroline Risiott from Ganado Advocates

Participants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. We encourage any interested students to apply as soon as possible by filling in the form below.

Upon filling in the form, we will send you a confirmation email & invoice to cover the fee. Upon payment, your place will be confirmed as an EWA Malta Participant and will have full access to our academic programme and any relevant materials used by our speakers.
